Bruges is full of endless culture, fantastic food and a lively nightlife. Often referred to as the 'Venice of the North', Bruges is home to almost 80 bridges and miles of canals. It is the perfect mini break destination and is accessible by plane from Oostende-Brugge International Airport and is also a easy drive from many European countries. From the UK, you can be in Bruges in just 4 hours if you take the EuroShuttle! It is a 45 minute train journey from Brussels, so it is the perfect day trip destination.

Bruges is home to many boutique hotels including Hotel Portinari which is only a 10 minute walk from the Markt and has a beautiful modern feel, and a fresh and filling breakfast buffet. If its a hostel your looking for, Charlie Rockets is built in what used to be one of the biggest movie theatres in Bruges and also offers free walking tours.

A must do in Bruges is to go on a Canal Tour, there are many to choose from and they are dotted around the canals close to Markt. A number of these also include a tour guide to who will tell about the history of Bruges which you are taking in the sights. Bruges is also home to a number of museums such as the Choco-Story (where you get free chocolate on your route!), the Frietmuseum and Huisbrouwerij De Halve Maan which is a family run brewery. For something different, Historium Bruges is an interactive tour which takes you through the middle ages and incorporates sight, sound, smell to make you feel like you are experiencing the story as it unfolds. If you are up to the challenge of 366 steps, you can climb the Belfort for unforgettable panoramic views of the city. If you are looking for a more casual trip, Bruges is full of shopping for retail therapy and and it is full of bars to stop for a beer along the way. You will never be far from a funfair and there are chocolate shops on every corner which create a delicious aroma in the streets. It also hosts some of the best fast food stops too, including Olive Tree with fresh Mediterranean cuisine and Bocca for hearty pasta portions.

Bruges has a beautifully chilled atmosphere and you will have the feeling you are in a fairy tale while you wonder the cobbled streets. It is the perfect destination for couples, friends, solo travellers or families.
